The ASNT_MPSG can be used for test applications, design verification, and R&D environments. The four-channel pseudo random bit sequence (PRBS) generator shown above operates within a wide data range. An external single-ended half-rate clock is needed for the instrument’s operation. An input frequency of n GHz corresponds to a 2n Gbps PRBS data output. The output data has adjustable amplitude. The trigger output has a user defined divide ratio of 4-1024 in increments of 4, in relation to the input high-speed clock. The four differential output channels are comprised of 2.92mm (K) female connectors with internal AC coupling, and CML interface. The ASNT_MPSG can also generate a QPRBS signal by combining its channel 1 with its channel 3 with different weights on the signal. The QPRBS signal is generated out of channel 3 as shown in Figure 1. The same way, a second QPRBS signal can be generated by combining channels 2 and 4. All operation and adjustment controls are accessible through a GUI installed on a PC that should be connected to the unit through a USB port. The unit is powered with a single 12V/10A DC power source.
